Description

“Sisu ja vorm II” is a book compiled from the exhibition SISU JA VORM I – Contemporary Estonian Graphic Design 2001–2011 held at the Estonian Museum of Applied Art and Design from 21.04.–17.06.2012.

The book is not directly a catalog of the exhibition but a collection that includes material presented at the show, along with new design works. The book features contributions on contemporary graphic design by the exhibition curator Indrek Sirkel, Professor of Graphic Design at the Estonian Academy of Arts Ivar Sakk, and sociologist René Mäe, who has researched graphic designers. Contributions were also made by designers Ott Metusala and Elisabeth Klement & Laura Pappa, who participated in the exhibition. Special photo-staging for the book was done by Anu Vahtra, based on the design projects shown in the exhibition. The book reproduces approximately 200 design projects, accompanied by context-providing illustrations, photos, and descriptions. The texts are set in the typefaces of Anton Koovit, Estonia’s only contemporary type designer.
