Description

The Cultural Factory Polymer was for over a decade the flagship of Tallinn’s alternative culture and the pioneer of the independent cultural center format. For many, it was a commune of artists and musicians that operated in the former factory complex of Polümeeri, one of the city’s most unique places—though to some, it was simply a dark and untidy cavern. Despite conflicting opinions, it was undoubtedly a landmark.

The Polymer catalog provides an overview of the vibrant life inside the building and its inhabitants: the cultural factory’s festivals, the art collective and independent gallery Kunstikonteiner, the party series Diletantide Avangard, the cultural factory’s print shop, the international residency program, and workshops organized by the building’s residents. The catalog unintentionally became the final summary of Polymer, as it ceased its official operations in early 2014.
