Description

The heart of the museum is its collections. One of the most valuable parts of the Museum of Architecture’s collection are architectural drawings: abstract designs, detailed views and spectacular urban spatial solutions, which the author has put on paper with his own hand. This is the so-called gold fund of the museum, from which several works have been presented to the viewer for the first time, while others have already been widely recognized for their artistic expressiveness. The approximately 150 drawings presented in the book give a picture of the history of architects’ visual thought from the beginning of the 20th century to the 1990s, the beginning of the current digital age. These are drawn spaces, in which the personality of the architects, as well as the period-specific way of representation and the desire to bring architecture closer to the audience, are at the fore. In addition to the album with precise descriptions and background stories of the drawings, the book provides an overview of the history of the architecture museum and architectural drawings and their role today. The aim of the voluminous publication is to introduce the museum’s collection and raise awareness of the value of architectural drawings, while also thanking all donors, thanks to whom the unfolding history of architecture in the book is much richer visually.
