Johannes Pääsuke (1892–1918) was a photographer and the first Estonian film maker; he was originally from Tartu. Despite the briefness of his life, he made several dozen films and took more than a thousand photos, through which he preserved a sense of Estonian life in the 1910s.
It is a large book in Estonian and English, in which you can find a diverse selection of texts, numerous photos and a wide selection of reproductions of Tiit Pääsuke’ works. Art researcher Tamara Luuk has written an analytical article in the book, and painter Tõnis Saadoja reflects on Pääsuke as a teacher and role model from the creator’s point of view. In addition, the catalogue contains an in-depth interview, the artist’s autobiography, Joanna Hoffmann’s curatorial text and biographical appendices. The book was designed by Valter Jakovski, the texts were translated by Peeter Talvistu, and the language editing was done by Anti Saar and Richard Adang.
