Tote bag Arnold Simson „Cat on a window sill“ (1966)

Arnold Simson (1899–1982) mainly made still life watercolours but also painted flowers and landscapes. He studied painting in Pallas in 1922–1934 and later supplemented his skills in the Tartu State Art Institute, where he also received a diploma as a drawing teacher. In the 1970s, his approach to watercolours, which used soft translucent transitions, became technically more diverse, with the gentle lyrical style of his earlier works changing to a more meditative one, adding unrealistic nuances.
