„Rode altar”

The book „Rode altar”, presented on Nigulapäev, compiles and presents the results and current status of the research and conservation project „Rode altar lähivaates” (“The Rode Altar Up Close”) conducted from 2013 to 2016. Articles written by participants in the research project introduce the methods, uses, and results of contemporary natural scientific and image technology studies applied to the investigation of a late medieval artwork. The richly illustrated book, which also includes historical photographs, offers an overview of the work of Lübeck master Hermen Rode and a detailed account of the history of the restoration of the Rode Altar.
