The catalog presents one of the most important fields of Japanese art in Estonian: ukiyo-e, or colored woodcut prints, along with its related history and concepts. A significant feature of the publication is the comparison of 18th-19th century Japanese graphic art with works created using the same technique in the 20th-21st centuries. For foreign-language readers, the catalog provides an overview of the Japanese ukiyo-e prints found in Estonia.

The catalog includes ukiyo-e woodcuts from the collections of the University of Tartu Art Museum and the Estonian Art Museum, as well as examples of 20th-21st century Japanese colored woodcut prints from the Adachi Institute in Japan.
