Photomagnet Lüüdia Vallimäe-Mark „Skating“, 1968

Lüüdia Vallimäe-Mark (1925–2004) is known for her illustrations for children’s books, which form a significant part of her oeuvre and where her lyrical understanding of the world and nuanced approach to colour are shown. She studied in 1943–1949 at the Higher Art School Pallas and at the Tartu State Art Institute. Vallimäe-Mark also painted nudes, landscapes, portraits, figural compositions and city views, which were later accompanied by abstract and surrealism-influenced compositions. Her work is valued for its sensitive colouring and refined technical approach.
