The prostate acts like a crossroads, where both the urinary and genital tracts intersect, affecting both urination and sexuality. Prostatitis occurs in up to 20% of men in adolescence, making it the most common inflammatory disease in young men. Among men over the age of 60, 80% develop benign prostate enlargement, and urinary problems affect half of the men in this age group. The risk of prostate cancer also increases with age: one in five men over the age of 65 may be diagnosed with a malignant tumour in the prostate.”
