Description

The “Konrad Mägi” album contains nearly 600 pages and introduces the works of Konrad Mägi (1878–1925).

At the heart of the album are almost a hundred of the most important works of Mägi’s oeuvre, accompanied by liner notes. In addition to art-historical reference materials, they also include meteorological data and botanical analysis. Historical, social, political, aesthetic and other contexts are also explored. The places where several works were painted are specified, e.g. some paintings set in the Roman period have been found to have been painted in Naples.

The book contains a complete register of Konrad Mägi’s works, with small reproductions of all 283 known paintings by Mägi that have left at least black-and-white traces over the last one hundred years. The album also includes Konrad Mägi’s letters with commentary and a brief biography. The publication is accompanied by a number of biographical and illustrative photographs and additional materials.
