Description

The book and the documentary accompanied the Kumu Art Museum exhibition “Raoul Kurvitz” (18.01.-21.04.2013). The print has been prepared based on the recognition that Kurvitza’s artistic career with its different stages, themes and volume of production needs a longer description and analysis than the relatively meager introductory wall text in the exhibition hall allows. Kurvitz has been active as an artist since the mid-1980s, and in his 25 years of activity, both a diverse creative activity and an authorial image worthy of dissection can be found.

The book is accompanied by a documentary film on DVD with Kurvitza’s personal story – the artist talks about his life and work, taking a look at various collaborative projects and partners and dissecting his creative achievements. The film also captures the construction process of the exhibition (in the case of Kurvitza’s creations, many questions have always been asked about the technical implementation) and the exhibition views, i.e. the finished works.
