Diana Tamane ”Flower Smuggler”

Diana Tamane’s photo book “Flower Smuggler” received the main prize in the Author Book Award 2020 category at The Rencontres D’Arles Awards 2020 and was also on the short list at the Aperture First Photo Book Awards. Diana Tamane graduated from the photography department of Pallas in 2012 and has been very active in the art scene ever since. Diana also gives regular lectures at Pallas. He has had solo exhibitions in Estonia, Latvia, Belgium, France, Germany, China and has participated in the 1st Riga International Biennale of Contemporary Art (curator Katerina Gregos, 2018) and the Kathmandu Triennial (curator Philippe Van Cauteren, 2017). His works are in the Fotomuseum Winterthur in Switzerland, the Latvian Art Museum and in private collections across Europe. The book “Flower Smuggler” was published by Art Paper Editions in Belgium and is available for purchase through the publisher.

Commenting on her book release and recent win, Diana said: “It’s easier to publish/self-publish a book these days, but it can be hard to get noticed because there are so many photo books published every year. I’m glad that “Flower Smuggler” won the Author Book Award 2020 because it will be seen by a wider audience. But it’s also always touching and encouraging when someone feels connected to my family’s stories.”
