Description

In addition to Estonian art, the exhibition program of the Tartu Art Museum has an important place in the presentation of international art. That is why the museum has been organizing group exhibitions introducing contemporary art from neighboring countries for several years now. At the beginning of 2019, this series will continue with an exhibition of Swedish contemporary art, bringing to the audience of Tartu the most outstanding examples of the recent work of local authors.
The print accompanies the Tartu Art Museum exhibition “Stories of Belonging”. Contemporary art from Sweden” (17.01.2019-05.05.2019), and offers the opportunity to analyze and further contextualize the works exhibited in the exhibition and the themes that arise in them. In addition to the curators (Joanna Hoffmann and Hanna-Liis Kont), Swedish art critic Frida Sandström and Estonian cultural journalist Keiu Virro have written texts for the collection. The book also includes a translated article by artist and writer Meira Ahmemulic with a new foreword that introduces the pain points of Swedish art education.
