Size of text

Description

Elmar Kits (1913–1972) was a painter who graduated from the Pallas Art School and whose life was closely tied to Tartu. His work ranged from book illustrations to monumental paintings, and he achieved success with his realistic paintings even during a time when socialist realism was demanded, although his versatile body of work also included abstract pieces.

This publication is the catalog for the exhibition “Phenomenon of Elmar Kits,” which took place from March 2 to May 20, 1994. The monograph provides an overview of Kits’ biography and work, and includes numerous reproductions.
