Description

The Tartu Art Museum catalogue “Whines in a Strange Forest” was created as part of the Museum Choice exhibition series, which gives young artists the opportunity to hold their first solo exhibition in the museum. The fourth exhibition in this series, Museum Choice 2016, featured Eva Mustonen, who won the Young Textile Artist Award. Her absurd, abstract, and tangled yarn ball-like installations, known for their warmth and charm, have made her work diverse and memorable.

Eva herself has said about her work: “I’m not entirely sure if my pieces want to be anything other than what they are because they simply are. In the moment they exist, they are ready. Their state lies in change, they have their own issues that trouble them. They are inhabitants of the margins, just like how society has people who deviate from norms.”

The bilingual (Estonian-English) spiral-bound catalogue for the exhibition “Whines in a Strange Forest” includes a curator’s text and an interview.
