Description

In her work, Kristi Kongi has tried to make sense of color and light through different techniques. Exhibition “Aberration. Exercises with light and shadow” originated from a research trip to Mexico City. Aberration as the basis of the concept of the exhibition stems from the constant movement of the artist, which caused the image to change, which in turn has influenced the photographs taken in these places. The artist captured moments by wandering around the city with a camera. The rapid transformation and movement of light and shadow there was the biggest motivation for the development and creation of the exhibition idea. Many photos were taken through the taxi window. Taking pictures while driving often left the pictures blurry and completely new colour systems were formed. It became important to capture the rapidly changing moments of light and shadow.
“Aberration. Exercises with light and shadow” is an artist’s book accompanying the exhibition, which is about light and colour, which was published from the initial material and the final result of the installation.
